The Dear You rendition was lovely, but the club members had a lessened impact than they should have due to their absence and irrelevancy to the plot. Especially since it also tied in well into how Lambdadelta and Bernkastel's weird hate-love relationship they have in Umineko. I liked how Rika and Satoko ended up being actual reasonable human beings and learning that they don't need to be with eachother 24/7 like like a tick on a dog. it went as well as I could have imagined it ending with how this season has been. Lucia after suffering several tragedies there would make Satoko increasingly madder.īut since the story has to be a rehash of the classic one, Satoko's plan has to be "make Rika suffer so much in Hinamizawa that she breaks up completely and realizes she love Hinamizawa" which requires Satoko to be ABSURDLY evil from the get-go. From Satoko's PoV Rika could realistically try to escape her doom after 1 or 2 bad loops in there, thus reaching a "good loop" by Satoko's POV. This need to be a "remake" also required her to be much more evil and stupid than necessary: It would be much easier to convince Rika to not go to St.Lucia by making her suffer inside of St.Lucia, starting the loops at the pivotal moment when Rika tells Satoko her dream. She has to have watched old Higurashi in order to replicate it for Gou. The reason why they had to make Satoko see Rika's past loops is just so she could re-enact Minagoroshi-hen (and other arcs to a lesser extent). It boiled down to the desire to make this series be a remake. I intended to make a post about this but ended up losing all energy to do it with these last episodes.
